Windows Seven Review- by MM

Hello… here we meet again,
After our last meet in vista Review
I was eager waiting to see.. how the next operating system from Microsoft will look like
… now I have been using windows Seven for a good while and starting with the
Windows Seven Features Review.. then coming soon the Program compatibility issues as I did in the vista ones
So… starting by the Machine Spec I tested that Seven on “my laptop “
Acer Aspire Gemstone 5920G
Core 2 due T7300 , 4MB cache
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 256 MB GDDR2
2 GB DDR2 Ram
1GB Intel Turbo Memory
8ms response 15.4 wide screen LCD

Well for truth I am somewhat surprised with Windows Seven
I feel it is a much updated vista… when u see it is just the same Vista u used to
But working a while u will find many handy features added
.. I didn’t feel familiar with that much easy everything goes.. I feel I am not using a Computer … and I didn’t like that LOL

Let’s start reviewing that .. easy windows

Installation went pretty good.. I think Microsoft knew its right way in windows setups since vista making them nearly fully automated

Starting with the first impression after installation.. very nice choice Microsoft… u did well choosing that blue theme.. it leaves a kind of relaxation after seeing it
And more the booting is very fast

Hey didn’t u like the blue one.. !! they are ready too.. Seven comes packed with 5 sweet themes fitting all users

Here some quick picks for you

That relaxing blue theme we already knew here

Pink Style.. getting those romance minds out

Yellow theme for that color lovers..

Hey come one are u using these programs that auto changes your Desktop background periodically.. Seven comes to send them off stage with its built in slide shows backgrounds

Taskbar

Did u see that ? this is the taskbar.. from the main points in advertising “Seven”
It is from the series of redefining windows from Microsoft team.. like the change in may concepts from 2000 to XP to Vista here Seven made the taskbar more soft and handy

Starting with changing windows titles to only symbols and going with not that buttons says “ grouped “ when u have many windows in the same programs it groups it automatically even if two and shows their live thumbnails by clicking it program icon
And also passing from an icon to another on the taskbar the thumbnail changes by a sliding sweet effect

And ending with that innocent rectangle at the right end of the taskbar
Hmm it seems useless but just point your mouse to it and see what happens
the following are 2 shots for that.. simplifies in 2 sentences “ now u see… now u don’t “

Now you see

Now u don’t….
That little rectangles gets all that windows disappearing in seconds.. that transparency will help u in many ways if u want to give the desktop a quick look for some files and so

The coming feature here is auto Maximizing
Move a window with your mouse to the top of the screen and u see that windows runs maximizing on your screen

A shot while it is growing
Very fast eye catching effect

A shot after it fitted itself to your screen

want more.. ?? then move your window to other sides

Just move that window to the right it will fit itself to the right half only of the screen

Good step they returned the button to be default shutdown not sleep as in vista

A silly bug "btw didn't show on other PC tested on".. that windows didn’t detect all the partitions automatically
After installation I opened my computer to find only one drive “the seven installation one “
present.. Luckily I fixed that from computer management settings
Here how it goes if u faced the same problem:
right click my computer icon > manage > choose disk management in the left pane> right click your hidden partitions > change drive letter >  choose a letter then it is done

Usb drivers’ options option… “Added the backup part “

Control panel
Seems more organized with the left pane minimized

At last the scoring rating system

The first one is the seven rating and the second is Vista’s one
As u see there is slight difference between them… but for the HDD part it takes us back again to the strange acts of seven with that part.. not detecting drives… and 2.0 ! rating beside 4.8 in vista… I think that was out of not a correct driver that “Seven” installed for the HDD

ok now I have took u in a fast tour inspecting Seven and watching its new wonders
And here preparing the next interview about programs issues with vista
Just a quick hint even Seven default programs “paint.. IE.. Etc “  have been greatly improved packing new features …
that next interview will be up very soon keep an eye on it
By the way did you wondered where that Seven name came from
That was a point from Microsoft.. they said they didn’t like that names like Vista and so Neither they can name it by year like 98.. 2000 .. etc
Because they don’t release windows yearly and so it has no point to name it by year
So they decided to make it by version and that release considered as the 7th windows release

At last thanks for your valuable time reading this review.. hope I have delivered some new information and made u feel some of the Seven new world

Thanks for an interesting review... I have also been wringing W7 out and it has been so stable that it is my default OS. I began with Build 7000 and grabbed the newer builds as they became available, and I am currently running Build 7057 (64 bit) on my RAID drives, 7057 (32 bit) and VISTA Ultimate 64 on other drives. My experience score is 6.2 (Quad core 2.66 ghz, 8G RAM, HD3870 ATI video, 5 TB storage <2 1TB drives in RAID 0>)

I have run into a few bugaboos, however they were relatively minor and most involved early transition problems with anti-virus suites. One major hiccup (to my mind) is an inability to run Deskscapes. The other modules have run well and I am hoping a fix appears soon but due to the newness of the OS it is a little premature to expect compliance from all the software vendors. Another vexing point is the failure of System Restore to operate properly, at least in pre- 7057 builds. I have not had the need to run it in this build thus far, but I did have many issues in early builds. I did a lot of fresh installs with all the builds up to 7057... with it I tried the Upgrade path and although it took somewhat longer than a fresh install, it did work seamlessly, with all programs functioning properly upon completion. To all those who are interested in, and hooked on the latest OS available, I say grab W7 as soon as you can... never mind those who call it things like VISTA SP2 etc. You deserve and W7 deserves a fresh look and acceptance. You won't be disappointed.
